A Class Asbestos Clearances

When friable asbestos has been removed, an independent A Class Clearance is essential to verify that the work area is safe and meets the required standards before reoccupation.

At Asbestos Consultants NZ, we carry out thorough enclosure inspections, air monitoring, visual assessments, and final clearance testing to ensure asbestos removal projects are completed safely and professionally. Our experienced assessors provide trusted, unbiased certification and detailed reporting, giving property owners, contractors, and duty holders complete confidence in the outcome.

What Is Included in an A Class Clearance?

A Class Asbestos Clearances are carried out following the removal of friable asbestos-containing materials, such as textured ceilings, asbestos insulation, asbestos insulating board (AIB), vinyl flooring, and fire-damaged asbestos products. Because these materials can readily release airborne fibres, the clearance process is more comprehensive than a B Class Clearance.

Our independent assessment includes verifying the integrity of the asbestos enclosure through smoke testing, confirming that the appropriate negative pressure units (NPUs) are in place, and conducting air monitoring at key locations, including decontamination units and NPU exhaust points where required. We also perform a detailed visual inspection, clearance air testing, and swab sampling to help ensure no asbestos residue has been left behind.

Once all inspections are complete, we provide a detailed clearance report documenting our findings and confirming whether the area is suitable for reoccupation. Throughout the process, our goal is to deliver accurate, independent verification and complete peace of mind for property owners, contractors, and duty holders.
